The digital space is buzzing with a wild new release that has completely upended the OTT charts. Maa Behen, a chaotic dark crime-comedy and subversive feminist satire, has taken Netflix by storm. Instantly dominating the streaming charts, this fresh and irreverent film is currently number one on Netflix and giving tought competition to heavy hitters like Dhurandhar Revenge on its OTT Premiere on JIO Hotstar. It has quickly established itself as the number one trending web movie of the June 4. People are watching Maa Behan Twice or Thrice.

The film balances its unique tonal shift from comedy to deep social commentary thanks to a stellar creative team and a powerful multi-generational ensemble:

Plot of Maa Behan

The story initiates with the visuals of the trio—Maa (i.e., Rekha) and her daughters—busy in their own lives, while Maa is busy doing some nasty things at home. She calls upon Gupta Ji to her home for a talk and teen patti. It sums up with the death of Gupta Ji due to some rift between Rekha and Gupta Ji. Rekha calls her daughters, Jaya and Sushma, to sort the kaand that happened at her home, while both the sisters also don’t like each other. To know the reasons and the source of the kaand, watch Maa Behen streaming on Netflix.

Review of the Film

The Dark Crime Comedy is taking the Netflix viewership by storm. The series is defeating Dhurandhar Revenge on its OTT Premiere on JIO Hotstar. Maa Behen is the number one trending web movie, a chaotic crime-comedy and subversive feminist satire that has quickly dominated the streaming charts. The film is fantastic and all the actors are performing well.

The story does not have the crisp comedy we expected, but it has humor mixed well with emotions, satire, and, most importantly, realness. If anybody has seen a colonial, suburban, independent woman whose roots are from the Mahua region, she does everything extra. That is what Madhuri Dixit is doing on screen; so she may look over-the-top in some scenes, but it is a necessity and it looks natural with the storyline. She, along with her altogether versatile performances on various OTT shows and movies, has proved why she is currently the only complete “Actress” of Bollywood. “Inse aap kucch bhi karwalo, ye bahut accha karengi.” Ravi Kishan as Gupta ji has done justice to his role.

So as the mother is, like are the daughters. Tripti, who is the “Siyan” of the three, has nailed the role brilliantly. The one who steals the show is Dharna Durga in the pivotal role of Sushma. She reminded me of “Rani” from Queen. Though both characters are different, their self-madeness in their roles has encapsulated fun in the film.

Direction, performances, and the story saved the film with distinction. But the screenplay needs attention, and the problem might be in the editing. One last thing, Hema does exist in the story along with Rekha, Jaya, and Sushma.

IF ANIMAL HURTS FEMINISTS, MAA BEHAN GONNA HURT MISOGYNISTS LIKE HELL.

The film can be watched for multiple times.

Conclusion & Rating

Maa Behen stands out as a bold, empowering, and beautifully chaotic cinematic ride. By blending raw emotional depth with sharp social commentary, it manages to thoroughly entertain while breaking away from standard formulaic storytelling. Driven by a spectacular cast, it is a highly re-watchable entertainer.

Rating: ★★★★☆ (4 out of 5 Gold Stars)
