Chandigarh, June 3: Senior BJP leader Kewal Singh Dhillon formally assumed charge as the new President of the Bharatiya Janata Party in Chandigarh today.
The ceremony was attended by Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini along with several senior BJP leaders and party workers. Leaders congratulated Dhillon on his new responsibility and expressed confidence in his leadership to further strengthen the party’s presence across Punjab.
Speaking on the occasion, party leaders emphasized organizational growth, grassroots outreach, and preparations for upcoming political challenges in the state.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from BJP supporters, marking a significant moment for the party’s Punjab unit as it begins a new chapter under Dhillon’s leadership.
Punjab, historically known for its agricultural strength, entrepreneurship, and cultural harmony, has contributed immensely to India’s development. However, in recent years, concerns over drug abuse, isolated incidents of communal tensions, organized crime, and provocative separatist narratives have created anxiety among citizens and investors alike.
While law and order remains a collective responsibility of the government and enforcement agencies, society too has an important role to play in preserving peace and unity. Political differences and ideological debates should always be addressed through democratic dialogue and constitutional means rather than hostility or division.
Industry experts and local business communities have often pointed toward slower industrial growth in several parts of Punjab compared to rapidly developing regions elsewhere. At present, Mohali has emerged as one of the state’s major hubs for IT, real estate, and corporate investment, while many other regions continue striving for similar economic momentum.
For Punjab to reclaim its position as one of India’s leading growth engines, there is a need for collective efforts from political leaders, civil society, youth, and citizens across communities. Peace, stability, employment generation, better education, and social harmony are essential for attracting investment and ensuring long-term progress.
Punjab’s identity has always been rooted in brotherhood, resilience, and hard work. The future of the state depends not on division, but on unity, constructive dialogue, and shared responsibility towards development and law and order.
